It is my honor to continue in the footsteps of the past presidents of the Society for Musical Arts (S.M.A.). Each of my predecessors were inspiring musicians and lovely people. It is a pleasure for me to have known and worked with them all, and now, a privilege to continue the course they charted.
The Ann Arbor City Club continues to be a loyal and vital link to S.M.A.’s mission of bringing local and emerging musical talent to the community. From our inception they have hosted our concerts where our Yamaha concert grand piano now resides. It is indeed a unique partnership which we know will continue.
Building our new website for our 62nd season caused us to take a look at our past which is truly magnificent. Our competition winners have gone on to fantastic careers in the arts, notably from YAC winner Jessye Norman, soprano, to our current REYMC winner Alexander Burrow, piano, who recently performed at Disney Hall as a L.A. Youth Philharmonic concerto competition winner. We are but a steppingstone for such great talent. S.M.A. presents them on their way to the height of their careers. Come hear our fantastic concerts: three in the fall and three in the spring. Be a part of the future. Get your tickets today!
